Oil macerates and their properties

What are the properties of oily macerates? Which plants are used? I'll tell you more in this article.

In this article, I'm going to tell you about the different oily macerates (=OM) I have at the moment and their individual properties!

  1. Erigeron/Karvinski's wolfbane

-> diuretic, astringent, tonic

  1. Rosemary

-> Draining, anti-inflammatory, tonic

  1. Round-leaved mint

-> antispasmodic, antiseptic, expectorant, relieves headaches.

  1. White sage

-> astringent, antiseptic, tonic, antioxidant*.

  1. Turmeric

-> Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, healing, purifying*.

  1. Daisies

-> Tonic, restorative, skin tightening, firming*.

  1. Aloe Vera

-> Regenerating, softening, healing*.

  1. Calendula

-> Powerful anti-inflammatory, healing and disinfectant

These properties are due to the small quantities of essential oil molecules that are transferred to the oil during maceration.

As you've read, the same properties are found in different OMs.

I try to favour OMs that will improve the skin's appearance by toning, firming and healing. Anti-oxidant OMs are ideal for protecting the skin from the effects of pollution. Diuretic, draining and anti-inflammatory plants help the body get rid of waste and toxins!

The benefits of using OMs are relatively minimal, but they're there all the same! I've also written an article on the benefits of massage.

Take care,

Amélie
