An essential element of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this ointment has many benefits! Today I'd like to talk to you about its composition and my homemade recipe.
Tiger Balm comes to us from TCM. It was created to relieve all kinds of ailments, which are themselves caused by an imbalance of Yin and Yang energies. For this reason, it is important that it is both warming (yang) and cooling (yin), to restore the balance.
After some research and testing, here's the recipe I created to make my own Tiger Balm:
For approximately 100ml of product
The foundation :
25ml VO sunflower
5ml VO hibiscus
30ml coconut oil
25g beeswax
Heating products:
1ml arnica extract
200g rosemary camphor EO
130g wintergreen EO
60g Ceylon cinnamon EO leaves
Cooling products:
200g Peppermint EO
30g Lemon eucalyptus EO
60g EO lavandin super
VE: vegetable oil
EO: essential oil
go: drop(s)
Massage into painful areas. Take the necessary precautions with regard to the essential oils used. Here: beware of anti-coagulant medication (such as aspirin).
After several uses, here's what I think: the smell is strong but bearable.
You can feel the cooling side but not the heating side. For that, you'd certainly need to increase the amount of wintergreen and cinnamon EO, which I'm going to do in a future trial, with care. Indeed, cinnamon EO can be irritating.
The texture is very pleasant: it melts quickly while still gripping (the product doesn't drip everywhere), and the oily sensation remains so you can massage the area for a few minutes.
I'm also going to try using more of my oily macerates, like sage for the analgesic effect, and peppermint to complement the EO already present.
Once again, I encourage you to take precautions when making and using this product!
If you have tried it, please let me know what you think.
You can make an online appointment for your moment of relaxation or write to me to make an appointment together.
Take good care of yourself,
Amélie
